Of the seven winners from the BYOB Meru Summit, was Joy Nkirote. The 24-year-old amazed everyone with the relentless pursue of her dreams. She carried her 3-month-old to Pre-Screening, right through to the summit day. You may wonder, ‘Why didn’t she leave the baby at home?’
The young mother is all on her own and has got no one to assist her with the baby. She revealed she learnt about the BLAZE Pre-screening via online platforms and social media. Against all odds, she made her move, braved the cold weather and together with her infant warmly covered, she headed to Meru National Polytechnic Grounds, to present her business idea.
What mesmerized the mentors was her relentless perseverance to achieve her dreams. The 24-year-old is a trained teacher and she is smart. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find any individual or institution to fund her business. She beat a good number of BLAZERs to emerge the top in Retail and Manufacturing pod. The Ksh. 100,000 will serve as capital to start her own manufacturing plant to make ‘unga’. For Joy, this is the start of a new dawn that will probably make her a fortune and employ hundreds or thousands.
It’s never too late for you to chase your dreams. What’s your excuse?
