RONO

Potato Farmer

My name is Brian Kiplimo Rono. I’m 25 years old. I’m the last born of 8. I have so much responsibility on my shoulders because in our culture its about the last born remains at home, takes care of the parents. I have one wife and one daughter.
Mother: “He loves going to school to learn. Since childhood he has loved his teachers and farming” When I joined the university my mother used to do farming but she used to do maize. That is how she supported us in terms of school fees and pocket money. But when I joined campus in second year she asked me to support her in farming so I came in full-scale to do potato farming. That is a variety called shangi. It is very productive, it is good for this environment, it is good for this altitude, it is also easy to take care of until harvesting. Never the less, I don’t have the water which I’m thinking of investing in it so that this water, we can go into potato farming, farm the potatoes during the dry season when the prices are very good.
Interview: ”I just want to be like this guy in Spongebob Squarepants called Mr. Krabs.” Keep pushing because Greatness Requires Internal Toughness.
