Most of you must have come across the BLAZE Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) TV Show ads by now. BYOB is a youth entrepreneurial reality TV show that consists of 12 contestants and 3 judges. The contestants, divided into two teams, are tasked with various real life business challenges each week. The team that loses the challenge faces eviction of one of their team members at the end of each show. The season finale will see three finalists pitch their business idea, for a chance to win Ksh.5 million (Ksh.3 million in cash and Ksh.2 million in business support).
So, how did the BYOB TV Show come to be?
BLAZE Is Born
BLAZE, a network for the youth by Safaricom, was launched in early 2016. It was established with these three mantras in mind; Freedom, Empowerment and Success. To fulfill its purpose, BLAZE offered the youth freedom to choose how to spend their airtime through the ‘Create Your Own Plan’ product. As fuel to empower the youth to follow their passion and achieve success, BLAZE BYOB Summits give the youth the opportunity to receive mentorship from BLAZE mentors.
